Mission Statement

Little League Baseball, Incorporated is a non-profit organization whose mission is to “promote, develop, supervise, and voluntarily assist in all lawful ways, the interest of those who will participate in Little League Baseball and Softball.”

Through proper guidance and exemplary leadership, the Little League program assists children in developing the qualities of citizenship, discipline, teamwork and physical well-being. By espousing the virtues of character, courage and loyalty, the Little League Baseball and Softball program is designed to develop superior citizens rather than superior athletes.

Founded in 1939; granted Federal Charter July 16, 1964, by unanimous act of the Senate and House of Representatives of the Congress of the United States of America and signed by President Lyndon B. Johnson as Public Law 88-378, 88th Congress H.R. 9234, and amended December 26, 1974, Public Law 93-551, 93rd Congress, H.R. 8864. Little League is tax exempt.

Parents are strongly encouraged to become involved in Little League. After completing a Little League volunteer application and passing a required national background check, parents may become involved in practices, and be eligible as coaches, managers, umpires, local league board members and other volunteer positions within the league.

NIPOMO LITTLE LEAGUE - DIVISIONS OF PLAY

Nipomo Little League offers five divisions of play for boys and girls ages 4 to 22.  The T-Ball & Caps divisions are non-competitive/instructional and teams are formed through player placements.  The Minor, Major and Junior divisions are our competitive/instructional divisions and players are selected through manager drafts based on player ability after attending player evaluations.  The Challenger division is for league age 4 to 22 yr old players with special needs. 

Teams in the competitive divisions are eligible to participate in an end of season Nipomo Little League tournament.  At the conclusion of the regular season, players League age 8-14 are also eligible to be selected to teams representing Nipomo Little League in All-Star tournaments hosted by Little League International®.

LOWER DIVISIONS - Non-Competitive/Instruction based - developmental playing divisions with a focus on core skill development.  Game results are not recorded, nor are divisional standings kept.

T-BALL (4YR - 7YR)
- Beginner/Entry level baseball for young players
- Hits off Tee at all times
- All players play defense and hit each inning
- Score is not kept/no standings
- Gain an understanding of the fundamental rules of baseball
- 50 ft Base Path Distance
- Play 1 game per week and 1 practice.  Games and practices are 45min-1hr length. 
- Games are typically once during week or once on weekend.

CAPS (Coach Pitch) (6YR - 9YR)
- Beginners division for league 
- Coach Pitch half season and player league age 7+ pitch second half of season 
- Score is not kept/no standings
- 9 players play defense each inning with substitutes
- Gain an understanding of the fundamental rules of baseball
- 50 ft Base Path Distance
- Each inning is continuous batting order or 3 outs.  Whichever comes first
- Play 2 games per week and 1 to 2 practices per week.  Games are typically once during the week and once on weekend.

UPPER DIVISIONS - Competitive baseball divisions that are officiated by an umpire where game results, player stats and divisional standings are kept.

MINOR (7YR - 11YR)
- Introduction into Competitive baseball/Instruction based
- Player pitch
- Umpire assigned
- Scoring and Pitch Counts maintained 
- Continuous batting order utilized
- 9 players play defense each inning
- Mandatory play rule - 1 at bat & 6 defensive outs played
- Must attend one try-out date
- Players selected to teams by Managers in draft
- 60 ft Base Path Distance & 46 ft Pitching Distance
- Two games per week and 1 to 2 practices per week (practice schedule determined by manager)
- Games played once during week and once on weekend

MAJORS (10YR - 12YR)
Competitive/Instruction Play
- Player pitch
- Umpire assigned
- Scoring and Pitch Counts maintained 
- Continuous batting order utilized
- 9 players play defense each inning
- Mandatory play rule - 1 at bat & 6 defensive outs played
- Must attend one try-out date
- Players selected to teams by Managers in draft
- 60 ft Base Path Distance & 46 ft Pitching Distance
- Two games per week and 1 to 2 practices per week (practice schedule determined by manager)
- Games played once during week and once on weekend

JUNIORS (13YR - 15YR) (15YR Old Players are ineligible for Little League Post Season Play)
Competitive/Instruction Play
- Player pitch
- Umpire assigned
- Scoring and Pitch Counts maintained 
- Continuous batting order utilized
- 9 players play defense each inning
- Mandatory play rule - 1 at bat & 6 defensive outs played
- Must attend one try-out date
- Players selected to teams by Managers in draft
- 90 ft Base Path Distance & 60 ft Pitching Distance
- Two games per week and 1 to 2 practices per week (practice schedule determined by manager)
- Games played once during week and once on weekend
